Happy Valen-Ties Day
We thought we’d be a little quirky this year with our theme.
Love is in the air and there have been very many # trends doing the rounds and this year would be no different.
Football has been buzzing!
The world witnessed Senegal become Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Champions for the first time in history. Welcomed home heroes and the love for the sport within that country like a fount sprung life, unity, belonging and pride in the Senegalese nation and it was evident as the passion spilled out on the streets. A belief that anything is possible when you have the support you need to flourish. The love for a winning team, expressed.
This year, we’ve dubbed it Valen-Ties day because a union like the South African Football Players Union (SAFPU) cannot exist and does not exist without ties. Ties with our members, the league, fans, board members, FIFPro, FIFPro Africa, FIFA, Media houses and journalist and Lifeline to mention but a few.
“We appreciate all the support we get, the most important tie that we have is with our members because without them, there would be no union. We do, what we do at SAFPU because of the brave football players throughout South Africa and continue to pledge to protect and defend the rights of footballers. We don’t like what we do, we LOVE it,” says the unions Secretary General Nhlanhla Shabalala.
If it is one thing for sure, it is that the team out at SAFPU HQ don’t like football, they love it!
Happy Valentines Day!
